Making A Printable Using Picmonkey

Sometimes, you need to fill a frame and have nothing to fill it with.  It's these times that I pop over to Picmonkey, (the easiest photo editing software online), and make one.  Picmonkey is super simple to use and there is no software you need to download.

First Things First

Picmonkey is probably one of the easiest photo editing software you can find online.  Yes, it is slightly limited.  And, NO, it is not just like Photoshop.  Well, it is sort of like Photoshop - just on a simpler scale.

This is the front page of Picmonkey.  From here, you can edit a photo that is already stored on your computer or you can make a collage based on many of Pimonkey's collage templates.  For now, we will just talk about the 'Edit A Photo' option.

After clicking 'edit a photo', you will be prompted to find the photo you want to edit in your picture folders on your computer.  For this, pull up a blank picture.  If you don't have a blank picture, you can upload any picture and use the overlay's pictured above to over lay a shape onto your picture that can then be colored to match whatever background you wish to have.

Select your overlay shape, re-size it to fit your picture and merge the layers.  The default color to overlays is black.  To change the color, just select or highlight the shape, then change the color from the color menu that will display.

Now, comes the fun part.  To add text to your design, click the 'P' on the far left.  You can choose from several different fonts and also re-size your text by adjusting the sliders.

Once you have the design you want, click 'save' at the top.  That's it!  Super easy, huh?

Happy Printing!

Kick Ass Printable

I looove printables.  Like seriously love them.  Currently, I have about 18 printables framed throughout the house not to mention my nifty printable wall hanger I made with twine and clothespins.

Maybe it's the affirmations or the inspiration I get from seeing them, or perhaps it's the fact that they are so easily interchangeable that makes me love them so - all I know is that for the price of good card stock, you can create your own digital art or quote to showcase in your home.

In my living room, I had an empty spot that was begging for a printable.  This would be a spot I would walk past every morning on my way to the coffee pot so I thought, why not put what has become my favorite saying and print it?!

That's exactly what I did.  Cute, huh?

Want it too?  Click the picture and right click to save to your computer, then print it out and frame.

Spring Printables!

Ahh...feel that?  That warmth you're feeling is the beginning of spring and I, for one, am so excited!

For one, Spring is the season that my husband is home the most.  His job as a fish farmer slows down a little with the waters starting to warm up so he's working a lot less AND since hunting season is over until October, I have him all to myself.  For a few months at least...

Right now we're busy getting our self watering containers built for our spring garden - those tutorials and pics will come soon.  In the meantime, I'm changing out all my seasonal printables this week.  I visited a few of my favorite blogs and found a ton that are to die for.  I thought I'd share them all with you guys.

Sooo, what are you waiting for?  Get Springy!

Printables, Oh how I love thee!

Can you believe there are only 52 more days until Christmas??  I don't know why I'm surprised - it comes every single year at the exact same time but no matter how hard I try, I am never prepared!

This year, I mean to do things differently.  Since the economy is in the toilet, I have resolved to be creative.  A few years ago, my crafty friend Melanie and I made a bunch of gifts for the people on our Christmas lists.  One of the gifts I gave out were of framed printables.

All you need is some really great card stock and some ink in your printer.  Insert in a great frame for a gift everyone will love.

From The Modern Polkadot, this printable is completely free.
